Turkey launches E Visas

Travellers to Turkey will need to get visas on line – or from the Turkish Consulate in London - from April 10. It will no longer be possible to buy visas at airports or other entry points. Cruise ship passengers making day excursions ashore will still be able to do so without visas. The Foreign Office warns: “Some unauthorised websites may charge for information about e-visas, and for submitting applications. These websites are not endorsed by or associated with the Turkish government. Be wary of such sites and businesses, particularly those that seek additional fees for other services.”

New Peru hiking guide

It’s 40 years since Hilary and George Bradt published what is claimed to have been the first travel guide covering the Inca Trail from Cusco's Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu. The first Bradt Guide - Backpacking Along Ancient Ways in Peru and Bolivia - has undergone multiple updates since and has now been reissued to mark the anniversary as Trekking Peru. The new guide (£12.99) covers 50 walks and hikes.
