Train museum to open in Brussels
Train World – Brussels’ first museum dedicated to the railways - is scheduled to open this summer. Exhibits will range from Belgium’s oldest locomotive to a state of the art train
incorporating the largest technology, from posters and personnel uniforms to historic film. No date has been announced yet for the opening of the museum, which is under development on the site of Schaerbeek station, an early 20th century building which is being restored. The site lies on the route of the first railway line in mainland Europe – between Brussels and Mechelen.

Yes, I believe it was the first railway line in mainland Europe. Not surprisingly (at all!) Christian Wolmar has a book covering the period http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1848871716
