Britain's top b&b named

With Welsh cakes on arrival and every effort to fullfil guests’ particular requests, Tregenna in Pembrokeshire has been voted Britain's best bed and breakfast in the first Silver Traveller Awards. It was emerged a s top of a shortlist picked by the web sites’ signed up members. They were full of praise for the b&b, which is only 2 minutes by bus and 10 minutes walk from the town of Pembroke and its railway station. It’s also a convenient base for exploring the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastline. They’ll give you advice on where to walk, there are drying facilities in case it rains – and there are two ground floor rooms accessible to guests with mobility problems.

The other four finalists were: Hassness Country House (Buttermere, Lake District); The Briars (Paignton, Devon); Prospect House (Whitby, Yorkshire) and Number 30 (Bewdley, Worcestershire
